Each gift left in a Will plays a crucial role in enabling SCAR to rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving homes for animals in need. Your gift not only honours the special bond you share with the pets in your life, it also contributes to a future where no animal suffers from cruelty, abuse, or neglect.

Simple Steps to Include a Gift in Your Will:

Including a gift to SCAR in your Will is simple and impactful:

  • Percentage Gift – Specify a percentage of your estate to be donated to SCAR.
  • Residual Gift – After taking care of your loved ones and any expenses, consider leaving the remainder or a part of the remainder of your estate to SCAR.
  • Specific Gift – You may also choose to leave a specific sum or particular assets to SCAR.

These gifts ensure your family is looked after first while also supporting a cause close to your heart.

Suggested Wording to Include in Your Will:

Leaving a Gift in your Will for Second Chance Animal Rescue:

I give to Second Chance Animal Rescue Inc. (SCAR), located at 23 Grasslands Avenue, Craigieburn (ABN 88630395653)

(Please insert the appropriate statement listed below:)

  1. the residue of my estate;
  2. [specify percentage] % of my estate;
  3. the sum of $[specify amount], for the general purposes of Second Chance Animal Rescue Inc.

I declare that the receipt issued by the treasurer or other authorised officer of Second Chance Animal Rescue Inc. will be sufficient discharge for my Trustees.

Note: Choices a, b, or c should be followed by the statement, “after the payment of all my just debts, funeral and testamentary expenses and all duties, taxes and charges payable on my Estate at my death.”

Including Your Pets in Your Will

We recommend that you include specific instructions in your Will to ensure your pets are cared for and rehomed by Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR) through our pet legacy service.

Here’s how you can phrase these instructions:

I direct that, should there be no family member or friend able to care for my surviving pets at the time of my passing, my Executor is to transfer custody of my pets to Second Chance Animal Rescue (SCAR).

It is my wish that SCAR rehome my pets through their pet legacy service or any future equivalent program or policy they may offer.

I further direct my Executor to arrange for the transportation of my surviving pets from their current residence to a designated SCAR location.
