In May 2022, SCAR and Moon Dog Craft Brewery came together to host the event of the year!
The Launch Event of our Rescue All-Stars Juicy Pale Ale!
About Rescue All-Stars Juicy Pale Ale
In early 2022, we collaborated with Moon Dog to create a Juicy Pale Ale, which helped raise awareness and funds for SCAR and the shelter animals in our care. A nationwide competition chose 8 real-life rescues to be featured on the front of the range of cans. The 8 gorgeous rescue pets chosen are - Pepper, Gus, Igor Maginty Magee, Maggie, Ravioli, Lulu, Harley, and the adorable duo, Asha & Poppy!
Each beer can features the story of the winning doggo and their characteristics and why they're so doggone lovable!
'Local partnerships with like-minded, animal loving companies just like Moon Dog are exactly what we're looking for here at SCAR. We rely on support like this to continue our life-saving work. We're thrilled to be working with Moon Dog and can't wait to taste our collaboration.'
Marisa Debattista - Second Chance Animal Rescue
'We're really excited about this collaboration. We're big dog lovers here at Moon Dog, and being able to celebrate rescues and support a great cause felt like a natural fit for us.'
Dave Langlands - Moon Dog
You can purchase Rescue All-Stars Juicy Pale Ale at all good bottle-o's, or, head to Moon Dog's online store where $1 from every can sold goes straight to SCAR!
About The Event
It was a beautiful, sunny day in Abbotsford, and people had packed into Moon Dog OG to help us celebrate the launch of our Rescue All-Stars Pale Ale!
The aroma of hand-spun woodfire pizzas filled the air and the room was full of the sounds of laughter and the occasional bark from the MANY four-legged guests who had come by to join the pawty! Some of our All-Stars themselves were floating about, searching for a crumb of pizza and posing by their giant celebrity posters on the wall! Harley, Ravioli and even one half of Team Asha & Poppy made it down, and we were honoured to have them there!
Apart from getting their hands on a pint of our Juicy Pale Ale, by far the most exciting draw-card of the day for people, was getting to meet our Encanto Litter! The 4 Staffy X Pups who were surrendered at only 3 days old were 10wks old on the day. In pairs, Mirabel, Bruno, Luisa, and Isabela spent the day hanging out with whoever was happy to meet them. For a donation, you could have your face kissed and licked endlessly by an excited puppy, or simply snuggle them into your arms and have a cuddle. The cuties were on the lookout for their loving family's amongst the crowd, and there was a lot of interest in the adorable little pups! The very next week, Laura would adopt Luisa (renaming her Lulu) and Isabela would head home to the loving arms of her new family now known as Cuba!
However, The Encanto Litter weren't the only dogs in high demand on the day, as our Doggy Kissing Booth opened up for donations! SCAR Doggy Ambassador, Sir Lexington, took up his spot behind the booth and was only too happy to offer all the smooches to anyone who passed by - and there were a lot of people who stopped by to meet him! How could you resist that happy face?
Our wonderful staff and volunteers circled the event for the whole day, chatting to people about what we do and why we do it. You could catch us behind our merch table, over by the puppies or by our Wall of Heroes, where a selection of posters of our gorgeous adoptable cats and dogs hung, just waiting for you to get in touch!
Overall, it was the perfect day for a cold beer with friends and furiends and a wonderful way to raise much-needed funds for animals in need. In total, our launch event alone raised $2,790, which is absolutely fantastic! With every online purchase of Rescue All-Stars Juicy Pale Ale, you can help us continue to raise money from this amazing collaboration! So make sure you get your paws on some today and start collecting them all!
Thank you so much to Moon Dog Craft Brewery for all their support and for working with us on this amazing collaboration!
