On 18th March 2023, we invited you to help us celebrate this incredible milestone. To ensure that we can continue to provide cats and dogs with safe refuge and our community with accessible resources and support for many years to come...
Like all good Birthday Parties, the day was full of entertainment for the whole family! We began with workshops and info sessions for all on Dog & Cat Enrichment before bursting into Happy Birthday with our official cake cutting ceremony! This was followed by a special screening of The Pet Rescuers (with popcorn of course) where viewers could ask the stars themselves any questions they had about the show once the credits rolled!
There were plenty of activities for the kids to enjoy too, from face painting, colouring in, painting and much more! We had a Foster Care and Volunteer Info Session where those in attendance could learn all about how you can help us do what we do here at SCAR, and for those interested in really getting hands on, our volunteers were busy packing bags of pet food for our Pet Food Pantry and were happy to show you how your help in packing just one bag can do so much for those in need!
We had official SCAR Merchandise available thanks to our partners and advocates, PromoShop, heaps of amazing accessories for your pets, a bake sale and our favourite Barista and friend, Mark from Mr Barista Mobile Cafe came and worked his magic, supplying coffee and treats to all! And then there were the kittens! A bunch of curious little balls of fluff, all happily meowing and tumbling about, provided endless enjoyment for all that came by to say hello - and for some, became the newest members of their loving families!
Honestly, the best way to celebrate 15 years spent rescuing and rehoming cats and dogs is by doing exactly what we did. Watching our community come together to support us. To see how they can be a part of keeping people and their pets together - and by helping even more families adopt their four-legged best friends and give them their second chance - over a slice of cake, of course!
