Foster Carer Application Form

If you are interested in becoming a foster carer, you will need to meet the following criteria:

  1. Submit a fully completed foster carer application form.
  2. Hold a valid driver’s licence or have access to reliable and safe transportation. (Foster animals can not be transported on public transport.
  3. Carers must be a minimum of 18 years of age.
  4. Provide an environment that is safe and secure within your home (indoors only for cats and indoor/outdoor for dogs).
  5. You must have the ability to isolate the foster animal(s) from family pets when required.
  6. Ensure all owned pets have up-to-date vaccinations and are desexed.

Have you had any prior convictions - i.e Fraud, Offences involving Animals, or any other Convictions other than minor traffic offences? (Australia or overseas)?
Do you rent or own your own home?
If you rent, do you have rental permission?
Do you give us permission to conduct a house inspection if we deem it necessary?
Do you have your own car?
During your foster period, you may need to make multiple trips down to the shelter at 23 Grasslands Avenue, Craigieburn VIC, during business hours. Will you be able to do this?
If you wish to foster dogs, do you have secure fencing?
If you own animals are they up to date with their annual vaccinations?
Have you been involved with Second Chance Animal Rescue prior to this application?

Do you have space to keep animals separated from your pets if needed (Spare room, bathroom, laundry)?

As part of the application process to become a foster carer with us, we require you to attend an Information Session before you begin fostering.

You should receive an email from us within 5 days of submitting your application for dates and times of the next Information Session.
